Alan McGowan
Alan McGowan was born in 1964 in East Kilbride and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1987. He was elected to the group Visual Arts Scotland in 1991.
McGowan concentrates on figurative work in the traditional sense; his nudes are both classical and poetic. He works mainly in oils and gracefully captures the changing positions of the human body.
In McGowan‘s early career he was both a lecturer and illustrator. His commissioned portraits, paintings and drawings appeared in The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, and Scotland on Sunday and on various book jackets. He work has been widely exhibited since 2000 in London, Scotland and Europe. Alan McGowan’s work is in many private collections world-wide.
